It is always a difficult time when a beloved one passes over, and even more distressing when Covid restrictions have to be kept.

My husband departed this life in February. There was a delay in the cremation of the body until March, and it is only recently that I felt able to collect the ashes.

What was most helpful and consoling was the service we received from Fishwicks. I was uncertain what I wanted in some aspects and specific in others. My requirements were met and my expectations exceeded.

The situation of the crematorium is simple stunning. The Chapel is delightfully modern. The large screen showed our chosen photographs perfectly and this was acknowledged by those who viewed the funeral in their own homes. The fact that the Service could be viewed for up to four weeks later was appreciated and people could even obtain a DVD of it. Also, we were able to download a version for our own keeping.

Another ‘touch’ was that my choice of rather unusual, but fitting music was respected. This was demonstrated in allowing my daughter to have full access to Fishwicks music library. Nothing at all was too much trouble for them.

When I collected the ashes, my husband’s cheap watch (a temporary replacement for his usual one) had been placed in a small, velvety red bag closed with a beaded cord. Another example of their high standard or care.

Yes, I may have rambled on a bit, but I have been so impressed with the service, I felt I had to share it.

Suzanne and other staff supported us to construct the funeral we wanted, in a caring, professional manner, given Covid restrictions. They guided us throughout, in sorting the details. The webcast worked well, to give many others the opportunity to view the funeral online. Beetham Hall is a beautiful, peaceful place to say goodbye.

Excellent Service

We used Fishwicks recently for my Fathers funeral. They were very good, excellent value and kind. We were offered a cup of tea and dealt with professionally and with great sympathy. Would highly recommend their service and the Crematorium at Beetham was fantastic. We used the services of Graham to lead the ceremony and can highly recommend his services, he got the tone of what we wanted perfectly.

Hopefully you only go through this once in your life & so you have nothing to measure good/bad service by. I choose Fishwicks because they were close by and a local company. The staff were very nice, but there are a few things they need to address-it was February when I lost my dear husband & when we went to discuss arrangements the room they took us to was absolutely freezing, there were no tissues and we were not even offered a drink of water (but something to warm us up would have been better) everything, as you can imagine was a blur to me me so my family came with me, and at no point was I told his ashes would be ready 48 hours after the service, and friends kept telling me it was about a 4-6 weeks wait for the ashes. Finding out 6 weeks later when I rang to ask if they were ready was honestly the 2nd worst day of my life. I felt so guilty finding out he’d been sat on a shelf there & not here at home with me. I just feel they have good intentions but not very good, consistent customer care.
